Justice Solicitation ``Law Enforcement Family Support: Solicitation for
Demonstration and Training Programs for Reducing Stress Among Law
Enforcement Officers and Their Families.''

Authority
This action is authorized under the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe
Streets Act of 1968, Secs. 201-03, as amended, 42 U.S.C. 3721-23
(1988).
Background
Title XXI of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of
1994 establishes a Law Enforcement Family Support Program, in
recognition of the negative effects of job related stress on law
enforcement personnel and their families. The program authorizes the
Attorney General to support research on the effects of stress on law
enforcement personnel and their families, identify and evaluate
programs providing support services to law enforcement personnel and
their families, and provide technical assistance and training for
stress reduction and family support programs.
This solicitation seeks proposals for the development,
demonstration, and assessment of innovative stress reduction programs
for State or local law enforcement personnel and their families; and
for the development and delivery of training on how to plan, implement,
and manage stress reduction and family support programs and services.

Reference Service (NCJRS) at 1-800-851-3420 to obtain a copy of ``Law
Enforcement Family Support: Solicitation for Demonstration and Training
Programs for Reducing Stress Among Law Enforcement Officers and Their
