SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
Background
On March 31, 1997, the Department received a request for an
administrative review of this countervailing duty order from the
Government of Pakistan and the shop towel exporters of Pakistan,
respondents, for the period January 1, 1996 through December 31, 1996.
On April 24, 1997, the Department published in the Federal Register (62
FR 19988) a notice of ``Initiation of Countervailing Duty
Administrative Review'' initiating the administrative review of
respondents. On May 7, 1997, respondents withdrew their request for
review.
The Department's regulations (19 CFR 355.22(a)(5)) stipulates that
the Secretary may permit a party that requests a review to withdraw the
request not later than 90 days after publication date for the
initiation notice on the requested review. In this case, respondents
have withdrawn their request for review within the 90-day period. No
other interested party requested a review and we have received no other
submissions regarding respondents' withdrawal of their request for
review. Therefore, we are terminating this review of the countervailing
duty order on cotton shop towels from Pakistan.
This notice is published in accordance with 19 CFR 355.22(a)(5).
Dated: June 13, 1997.
Jeffrey P. Bialos,
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Import Administration.
