Issuance of Permit for Incidental Take of Endangered Species

AGENCY: Fish and Wildlife Service, Interior.

    ACTION: Notice.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY: On August 4, 1995, a notice was published in the Federal
Register (60 FR 39964) that an application had been filed with the U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) by the Riverside County Habitat
Conservation Agency for a permit to incidentally take, pursuant to
section 10(a)(1)(B) of the Endangered Species Act (Act) of 1973, as
amended (16 U.S.C. 1532 et seq.), the endangered Stephens' kangaroo rat
(Dipodomys stephensi). This is in conjunction with-otherwise legal
activities such as private and public development and improvement
projects in portions of Riverside County, California, pursuant to the
Implementation Agreement that implements the Long-Term Stephens'
    Kangaroo Rat Habitat Conservation Plan.
Notice is hereby given that on May 3, 1996, as authorized by the
provisions of the Act, the Service issued an incidental take permit
PRT-805414 to the above-named party subject to certain conditions set
forth therein. The permit was granted only after it was determined that
it was applied for in good faith, that by granting the permit it will
not lead to the jeopardy of the endangered species, and that it will be
consistent with the purposes and policies set forth in the Act.
