Notice Pursuant to the National Cooperative Research and
Production Act of 1993--CommerceNet Consortium
Notice is hereby given that, on April 25, 1995, pursuant to Section
6(a) of the National Cooperative Research and Production Act of 1993,
15 U.S.C. 4301 et seq. (``the Act''), CommerceNet Consortium, (the
``Consortium'') has filed written notifications simultaneously with the
Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission disclosing certain
changes in its membership. CommerceNet Consortium has had a name
change. It was formerly known as Smart Valley CommerceNet Consortium,
Inc. The notifications were filed for the purpose of extending the
Act's provisions limiting the recovery of antitrust plaintiffs to
actual damages under specified circumstances. Specifically, the
identities of the additional members at the sponsor level are: Allan-
Bradley Company, Inc., Albuquerque, NM; Electronic Data Systems, Plano,
TX; Netscape Communications Corporation, Mountain View, CA; Nynex
Corporation, Middleton, MA; Oracle Corporation, Redwood Shores, CA;
Pitney Bowes, Shelton, CT; and Verifone Inc., Redwood City, CA.
The following organizations have joined the Consortium as associate
members: Financial Services Technology Consortium, New York, NY;
Frontier Technologies Corporation, Mequon, WI; First Data Corp., Palo
Alto, CA; I/Pro, Palo Alto, CA; Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los
Alamos, NM; National Automated Clearinghouse Assoc., Herndon, VA;
Network Computing Devices, Mountain View, CA; Nihongo Yellow Pages,
Inc. (ISM Services) San Jose, CA; Premier Industries, Chicago, IL;
Union Bank, Monterey Park, CA; and Waltrip & Associates, Sacramento,
CA. The following organizations have joined as international associate
members: CSIR Information Services, Pretoria, SOUTH AFRICA; Japan
Research Institute, Ltd, Tokyo, JAPAN; Kansai Institute of Information
Systems, Osaka, JAPAN; Nippon Telephone & Telegraph Corporation, Tokyo,
JAPAN; NEC Corporation, Tokyo, JAPAN; and Olivetti Telemedia S.P.A.,
Iveria (TO), ITALY. The following organizations were formerly sponsors
but are now associates: American Express Company, Phoenix, AZ;
Bellcore, Morristown, NJ; Dun & Bradstreet, Westport, CT; and The Santa
Cruz Operation, Inc., Santa Cruz, CA.
No other changes have been made in either the membership or planned
activities of the Consortium. Membership remains open, and the
Consortium intends to file additional written notifications disclosing
all changes in membership.
On June 13, 1994 the Consortium filed its original notification
pursuant to Section 6(a) of the Act. The Department of Justice
published a notice in the Federal Register pursuant to Section 6(b) of
the Act on August 31, 1994 (59 FR 45012).
The last notification was filed with the Department on January 18,
1995. A notice was published in the Federal [[Page 33233]] Register
pursuant to section 6(b) of the Act on March 20, 1995 (60 FR 14780).
