    Office of School-To-Work Opportunities; Advisory Council for 
    School-To-Work Opportunities; Notice of Open Meetings
    
    SUMMARY: The Advisory Council for School-to-Work Opportunities was 
    established by the Departments of Education and Labor to advise the 
    Departments on implementation of the School-to-Work Opportunities Act. 
    The Council assesses the progress of School-to-Work Opportunities 
    systems development and program implementation; makes recommendations 
    regarding progress and implementation of the School-to-Work initiative; 
    advises on the effectiveness of the new Federal role in providing 
    venture capital to States and localities to develop School-to-Work 
    systems; and acts as an advocate for implementing the School-to-Work 
    framework on behalf of their stakeholders.
        Time and Place: The Advisory Council for School-to-Work 
    Opportunities will have an open meeting on Wednesday, June 18, 1997 
    from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m., 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m.-
    4:30 p.m. at the Academy for Educational Development Conference Center, 
    1875 Connecticut Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20009.
        Agenda: The agenda for the meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. 
    will include opening remarks and an update of School-to-Work 
    implementation. The Council will then meet in breakout sessions and 
    from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. will report out to the entire Council. 
    During the afternoon, the Council's five subcommittees will meet for 
    strategy sessions around key STW issues. The agenda from 3:30 p.m. to 
    4:30 p.m. will include reports from the various subcommittees, a 
    summary of the day's meeting and a discussion of future actions.
        Public Participation: The meeting Wednesday, June 18, from 8:30 
    a.m.-10:00 a.m., 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. will 
    be open to the public. Seats will be reserved for the media. 
    Individuals with disabilities in need of special accommodations should
