    SUMMARY:

    In compliance with section 3506(c)(2)(A) of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, the Department of the Army announces the extension of a public information collection and seeks public comment on the provisions thereof. Comments are invited on: (a) Whether the proposed collection of Start Printed Page 32934information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information shall have practical utility; (b) the accuracy of the agency's estimate of the burden of the proposed information collection; (c) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and (d) ways to minimize the burden of the information collection on respondents, including through the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.

    Consideration will be given to all comments received by August 7, 2006.

    Needs and Uses: The DD Form 2339 is required in support of international military students who are attending training in the United States with the Military Departments as part of the security assistance training program. The DD Form 2339 is utilized in gathering information on the international student prior to his/her arrival in the United States in order that civilian and military sponsors can be assigned to assist the student during his/her training.

    Affected Public: Individual or Households.

    Annual Burden Hours: 90.

    Number of Respondents: 3,000.

    Responses per Respondent: 1.

    Average Burden per Response: 15 minutes.

    Frequency: On Occasion.

    SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:

    The International Military Student Information (IMSI) is utilized by the military departments and pertains only to non U.S. citizens who are members of a foreign army that have been designated by their government to attend training at a military facility. The IMSI is utilized by the gaining organization to provide background information on the individual in order that a military and civilian sponsor may be assigned to assist the individual during his/her stay in the United States.
