SUMMARY:
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or the Agency) is extending the comment period for the notice of availability entitled “Risk Management Plans to Mitigate the Potential for Drug Shortages; Draft Guidance for Industry; Availability; Agency Information Collection Activities; Proposed Collection; Comment Request” that appeared in the Federal Register on May 20, 2022. The Agency is taking this action in response to requests for an extension to allow interested persons additional time to submit comments.

FDA is extending the comment period on the “Risk Management Plans to Mitigate the Potential for Drug Shortages; Draft Guidance for Industry; Availability; Agency Information Collection Activities; Proposed Collection; Comment Request” published May 20, 2022 (87 FR 30963). Submit either electronic or written comments by August 31, 2022, to ensure that the Agency considers your comment on this draft guidance before it begins work on the final version of the guidance.

I. Background
In the Federal Register of May 20, 2022, FDA published a notice of availability with a 60-day comment period to provide comments on the draft guidance entitled “Risk Management Plans to Mitigate the Potential for Drug Shortages.” FDA has received requests to extend the comment period to allow sufficient time to develop and submit meaningful comments. FDA has considered the requests and is extending the comment period until August 31, 2022. The Agency believes that this extension allows adequate time for interested persons to submit comments.
