    Weyerhaeuser Co.; Notice of Application for Commission 
    Certification of Qualifying Status of a Small Power Production Facility
    
    July 8, 1994.
        On June 22, 1994, Weyerhaeuser Company (Weyerhaeuser) of 33637 
    Weyerhaeuser Way South, Federal Way, Washington 98003, submitted for 
    filing an application for certification of a facility as a qualifying 
    small power production facility pursuant to Section 292.207(b) of the 
    Commission's Regulations. No determination has been made that the 
    submittal constitutes a complete filing.
        According to the applicant, installation of the facility, referred 
    to as the Chemical Recovery Facility (CRF), located at Carson Road, in 
    Columbus, Mississippi, was completed in May of 1990. The CRF consists 
    of a recovery boiler and a steam turbine generator, with an electric 
    power production capacity of 64 MW. The primary energy source of the 
    CRF is black liquor.
        Any person desiring to be heard or objecting to the granting of 
    qualifying status should file a motion to intervene or protest with the 
    Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 825 North Capitol Street, NE., 
    Washington, DC 20426, in accordance with rules 211 and 214 of the 
    Commission's Rules of Practice and Procedure. All such motions or 
    protests must be filed within 30 days after the date of publication of 
    this notice in the Federal Register and must be served on the 
    applicant. Protests will be considered by the Commission in determining 
    the appropriate action to be taken but will not serve to make 
    protestants parties to the proceeding. Any person wishing to become a 
    party must file a petition to intervene. Copies of this filing are on 
    file with the Commission and are available for public inspection.
