Special Panel on Military Operations on Vieques; Meeting

ACTION: Notice.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY: The Panel will conduct two public meetings to receive and 
discuss information associated with military operations at Vieques, 
Puerto Rico and in the adjoining ocean range complex. The panel will 
receive information from Congressman Carlos A. Romero-Barcelo on July 
16 and from the Department of the Navy on July 23. Because of the short 
timeframe of the panel's review, and the accelerated pace of the 
meeting schedule, this announcement must be made less than 15 days 
before the meetings will take place.

DATES: July 16 and July 23, 1999 from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 
12:00 p.m., respectively.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Seating in the panel meeting room is 
limited, and spaces will be reserved only for panel members and invited 
representatives. The remaining seating is available on a first-come, 
first-served basis. No teleconference lines will be available. Written 
comments for the record may be mailed to the Panel and will be 
distributed to the Panel members after the adjournment of the July 16 
and 23, 1999 meetings.
