licensing of U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 08/438,702 entitled
``Infectious Japanese encephalitis virus cDNA clones that produce
highly attenuated recombinant Japanese encephalitis virus, and vaccines
thereof'' and filed May 11, 1995. This patent has been assigned to the
United States Government as represented by the Secretary of the Army.

ADDRESSES: Commander, U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command,

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The invention relates to recombinant,
attenuated Japanese encephalitis viruses that contain a single amino
acid mutation in the envelop protein. In particular, the invention is
directed to isolated DNA molecules encoding the genomes of such mutant
Japanese encephalitis viruses. The invention is also directed to
methods for preparing mutant Japanese encephalitis viruses from
cultured animal cells. It also relates to pharmaceutical compositions
