ACTION: Notice of meeting.

SUMMARY: This notice sets forth the date and location of a forthcoming
meeting of the National Education Goals Panel. This notice also
describes the functions of the Panel.
DATES: July 29, 1995 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The National Education Goals Panel, a
bipartisan panel of governors, members of the Administration, members
of Congress and state legislators, was created to monitor and report
annually to the President, Governors and Congress on the progress of
the nation toward meeting the National Education Goals adopted by the
President and Governors in 1989.
The meeting of the Panel is open to the public. The agenda
includes: A discussion of recommendations on (1) academic standards;
(2) methods to fill national and state data reporting gaps; (3)
adoption of indicators to be used in measuring the teacher education
and professional development, and parental participation Goals; and (4)
a presentation to the winners to the ``Most Promising Practices
Competition on Strong Families, Strong Schools'' co-sponsored by
Scholastic, Inc., Apple Computer, Inc., and the National Education
Goals Panel.
