    Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company; Notice of Proposed Changes in 
    FERC Gas Tariff
    
    July 14, 1998.
        Take notice that on July 10, 1998, Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company 
    (Tennessee), tendered for filing as part of its FERC Gas Tariff, Fifth 
    Revised Volume No. 1, the tariff sheets listed on Appendix A to the 
    filing, with an effective date of August 1, 1998.
        Tennessee states that the revised tariff sheets are being filed in 
    compliance with the Commission's Order No. 587-G issued on April 16, 
    1998. Standards for Business Practices of Interstate Natural Gas 
    Pipelines, 83 FERC para. 61,029 (1998). Consistent with Order No. 587-
    G, Tennessee proposes an effective date of August 1, 1998. Tennessee 
    requests a waiver of Section 154.207 to permit an August 1, 1998 
    effective date.
        Tennessee states that the revised tariff sheets incorporate by 
    reference Version 1.2 of the GISB standards.
        Tennessee states that copies of the filing have been mailed to each 
    of the parties that have intervened in this proceeding.
        Any person desiring to be heard or to protest this filing should 
    file a motion to intervene or a protest with the Federal Energy 
    Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20426, 
    in accordance with Sections 385.214 and 385.211 of the Commission's 
    Rules and Regulations. All such motions or protests must be filed as 
    provided in Section 154.210 of the Commission's Regulations. Protests 
    will be considered by the Commission in determining the appropriate 
    action to be taken, but will not serve to make protestants parties to 
    the proceedings. Any person wishing to become a party must file a 
    motion to intervene. Copies of this filing are on file with the 
    Commission and are available for public inspection in the Public 
    Reference Room.
