    Description: Section 6048(b) requires that foreign trusts with at least one U.S. beneficiary must file an annual information return on Form 3520-A. The form is used to report the income and deductions of the foreign trust and provide statements to the U.S. owners and beneficiaries. IRS uses Form 3520-A to determine if the U.S. owner of the trust has included the net income of the trust in it's gross income.

    Description: Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 402(e) allows taxpayers to compute a separate tax on lump-sum distribution from a qualified retirement plan. Form 4972 is used to correctly figure that tax. The data is used to verify the correctness of the separate tax. Form 4972 is also used to make the special 20% capital gain election attributable to pre-1974 participation from the lump-sum distribution.

    Description: Form 1066 and Schedule Q (Form 1066) are used by a real estate mortgage investment conduit (REMIC) to figure its tax liability and income and other tax-related information to pass through to its residual holders. IRS uses the information to determine the correct tax liability of the REMIC and its residual holders.
