SUMMARY:
EPA is extending the comment period for the revised organophosphorous (OP) cumulative risk assessment for an additional 30 days. The revised OP cumulative risk assessment was released to the public for comment in the Federal Register of June 20, 2002. The revised assessment was developed as part of EPA's process for tolerance reassessments under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), as amended by the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 (FQPA). By allowing access and opportunity for comment on the revised risk assessment, EPA is seeking to strengthen stakeholder involvement and help ensure our decisions under FQPA are transparent and based on the best available information.

Comments, identified by the docket ID number OPP-2002-0154, must be received on or before August 21, 2002.

A. Does this Action Apply to Me?-
This action is directed to the public in general, nevertheless, a wide range of stakeholders will be interested in obtaining and submitting comments on the revisions to the OP pesticide cumulative risk assessment, including environmental, human health, and agricultural advocates; the chemical industry; pesticide users; and members of the public interested in the use of pesticides on food. As such, the Agency has not attempted to specifically describe all the entities potentially affected by this action. If you have any questions regarding the applicability of this action to a particular entity, consult the person listed under FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT.

The documents provide information on the revisions that were made to the preliminary OP cumulative risk assessment, which was released to the public in the Federal Register of December 28, 2001 (66 FR 67249) (FRL-6816-5).
