    Agenda and Notice of Public Meeting of the Texas Advisory 
    Committee
    
        Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of the rules and 
    regulations of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, that a meeting of 
    the Texas Advisory Committee to the Commission will convene at 3:00 
    p.m. and adjourn at 7:00 p.m. on August 13, 1998, at the Holiday Inn--
    Market Center, 1955 Market Center Boulevard, Dallas, Texas 75207. The 
    purpose of the meeting is to discuss a draft report and for the 
    subcommittee on education, administration of justice and hate crimes to 
    meet. The Committee will reconvene at 9:30 a.m. and adjourn at 2:30 
    p.m. on August 14, 1998, at the Earl Campbell Federal Building, 1100 
    Commerce Street, Room I-B51, Dallas, Texas 75224. The purpose of the 
    meeting is to obtain information from State and federal officials on 
    hate crimes investigations that have taken place, and to continue 
    subcommittee work on planning projects on education, hate crimes, and 
    racial tensions.
        Persons desiring additional information, or planning a presentation 
    to the Committee, should contact Philip Montez, Director of the Western 
    Regional Office, 213-894-3437 (TDD 213-894-3435). Hearing-impaired 
    persons who will attend the meeting and require the services of a sign 
    language interpreter should contact the Regional Office at least ten 
    (10) working days before the scheduled date of the meeting.
        The meeting will be conducted pursuant to the provisions of the 
    rules and regulations of the Commission.
