    SUMMARY: This notice announces the amendment of pesticide petition (PP 
    6F4664), proposing the establishment of regulations for residues of 
    certain pesticide chemicals in or on various food commodities.

    DATES: Comments, identified by the docket control number PF-701A, must 
    be received on or before August 26, 1998.

    SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: EPA has received pesticide petitions as 
    follows proposing the establishment and/or amendment of regulations for 
    residues of certain pesticide chemicals in or on various food 
    commodities under section 408 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Comestic 
    Act (FFDCA), 21 U.S.C. 346a. EPA has determined that these petitions 
    contain data or information regarding the elements set forth in section 
    408(d)(2); however, EPA has not fully evaluated the sufficiency of the 
    submitted data at this time or whether the data supports granting of 
    the petition. Additional data may be needed before EPA rules on the 
    petition.
        The official record for this notice of filing, as well as the 
    public version, has been established for this notice of filing under 
    docket control number [PF-701A] (including comments and data submitted 
    electronically as described below). A public version of this record, 
    including printed, paper versions of electronic comments, which does 
    not include any information claimed as CBI, is available for inspection 
    from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal 
    holidays. The official record is located at the address in

    Summary of Petition
    
        Petitioner summary of the pesticide petition is printed below as 
    required by section 408(d)(3) of the FFDCA. The summary of the petition 
    was prepared by the petitioner and represents the view of the 
    petitioner. EPA is publishing the petition summary verbatim without 
    editing them in any way. The petition summary announces the 
    availability of a description of the analytical methods available to 
    EPA for the detection and measurement of the pesticide chemical 
    residues or an explanation of why no such method is needed.
    
    Amended Petition
    
        PP 6F4664. In the Federal Register of February 26, 1997 (62 FR 
    8737) (FRL-5585-2), EPA issued a notice that Rhone-Poulenc Ag Company, 
    P.O. Box 12014, 2 T.W. Alexander Drive, Research Triangle Park, NC 
    27709, proposed pursuant to section 408(d) of the Federal Food, Drug 
    and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), 21 U.S.C. section 346a(d), to amend 40 CFR 
    part 180 by establishing a tolerance for the combined residues of the 
    herbicide isoxaflutole [5-cyclopropyl-4-(2-methylsulfonyl-4-
    trifluoromethyl benzoyl) isoxazole] and its metabolites 1-(2-
    methylsulfonyl-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-2-cyano-3-cyclopropyl propan-
    1,3-dione and 2-methylsulphonyl-4-trifluoromethyl benzoic acid, 
    calculated as the parent compound, in or on the raw agricultural 
    commodity field corn at 0.20 parts per million (ppm), field corn, 
    fodder, at 0.50 ppm, field corn, forage at 1.0 ppm; and establishing a 
    tolerance for combined residues of the herbicide isoxaflutole [5-
    cyclopropyl-4-(2-methylsulfonyl-4-trifluoromethyl benzoyl) isoxazole] 
    and its metabolite 1-(2-methylsulfonyl-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-2-
    cyano-3-cyclopropyl propan-1,3-dione, calculated as the parent 
    compound, in or on the liver of cattle, goat, hogs, horses, poultry and 
    sheep at 0.40 ppm, meat byproducts (except liver) of cattle, goat, 
    hogs, horses, and sheep at 0.2 ppm and milk at 0.02 ppm.
        Rhone-Poulenc Ag Company has submitted to EPA an amended petition 
    (PP 6F4664), proposing to amend 40 CFR part 180 by establishing a 
    tolerance for the combined residues of the herbicide isoxaflutole [5-
    cyclopropyl-4-(2-methylsulfonyl-4-trifluoromethyl benzoyl) isoxazole] 
    and its metabolites 1-(2-methylsulfonyl-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-2-

    trifluoromethyl benzoic acid, calculated as the parent compound, in or

    meat byproducts (except liver) of cattle, goat, hogs, horses, and sheep 
    at 0.1 ppm, fat of cattle, goat, hogs, horses, and sheep at 0.20 ppm,
