Notice of Receipt of Applications for Permit
The following applicants have applied for a permit to conduct
certain activities with endangered species. This notice is provided
pursuant to Section 10(c)of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as
amended (16 U.S.C. 1531, et seq.):
PRT-844874
Applicant: Michael Frisina and Lajia Cairen, Buffalo, NY
The applicants request a permit to import biological samples
obtained as salvage or from trophy specimens of Altai argali (Ovis
ammon ammon) and Gobi argali (Ovis ammon darwini) in the wild in
Mongolia, for the purpose of genetic studies for enhancement of the
survival of the species.

Applicant: Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology, Camarillo, CA
The applicant requests a permit to export and re-import non-living
museum specimens of endangered and threatened species of plants and
animals previously accessioned into the permittee's collection for
scientific research. This notification covers activities conducted by
the applicant for a five year period.

The applicant request renewal of a permit to import salvaged
specimens of Sonoran pronghorn (Antilocapra americana sonoriensis) and
peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus), and salvaged specimens, viable
eggs, injured birds from the wild and viable eggs from captive-held
birds of whooping crane (Grus ameriana) for the purpose of scientific
study or enhancement of propagation or survival of the species.

by the Director within 30 days of the date of this publication.
The public is invited to comment on the following application for a
permit to conduct certain activities with marine mammals. The
application was submitted to satisfy requirements of the Marine Mammal
Protection Act of 1972, as amended (16 U.S.C. 1361 et seq.) and the
regulations governing marine mammals (50 CFR 18).
Applicant: Texas A&M University, Marine Mammal Research Program,
Galveston, TX, PRT-766146.
Permit Type: Take for Scientific Research.

Name and Number of Animals: Manatee (Trichecus manatus), up to 20.
Summary of Activity to be Authorized: The applicant requests
amendment of PRT-766146 to provide two new researchers authorization to
work under the permit to take captive manatees at facilities in Florida
for the purpose of scientific research.
Source of Marine Mammals: Captive manatees at facilities in
Florida.
Period of Activity: Up to 5 years from issuance date of permit, if
issued.
Concurrent with the publication of this notice in the Federal
Register, the Office of Management Authority is forwarding copies of
this application to the Marine Mammal Commission and the Committee of
Scientific Advisors for their review.
Written data or comments, requests for copies of the complete
application, or requests for a public hearing on this application
should be sent to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of

Anyone requesting a hearing should give specific reasons why a hearing
