    AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and 
    Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.
    
    ACTION: Notice of public meeting.

    SUMMARY: The Pacific Fishery Management Council's (Council) Groundfish 
    Management Team (GMT) will hold a public meeting.
    
    DATES: The meeting will begin on July 15, at 1 p.m. and may go into the 
    evening until business for the day is completed. The meeting will 
    reconvene on July 16 through July 19, at 8 a.m. The meeting will 
    adjourn on Friday at 5 p.m.
    
    ADDRESSES: The meeting will be held at the Pacific Fishery Management 
    Council, 2130 SW Fifth Avenue, Suite 224, Portland, OR 97201.

    SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The primary purpose of this meeting is to 
    review the Council's June 1996 instructions to the GMT and prepare 
    reports for the August 1996 Council meeting. The GMT will review 
    several new groundfish stock assessments and prepare initial 
    recommendations for 1997 catch levels; review the rate of groundfish 
    landings through June; review preliminary analyses of the Pacific 
    whiting allocation proposal, a proposal to establish disposition 
    procedures for salmon bycatch in the shore-based whiting fishery, and 
    industry proposals relating to sale of amounts of fish landed in excess 
    of trip limits, restrictions on transfers (including leases) of limited 
    entry permits, allowing vessels to begin their landing periods mid-
    month, and data collection.
