Kern River Gas Transmission Company; Notice of Refund Report

July 2, 1998.
    Take notice that on June 26, 1998, Kern River Gas Transmission 
Company (Kern River) tendered for filing a report of Gas Research 
Institute (GRI) refunds made to its customers.
    Kern River states that on May 29, 1998 it received a refund from 
the GRI in the amount of $663,119, representing an overcollection of 
the 1997 GRI Tier 1 funding target level set for Kern River by GRI. On 
June 12, 1998, Kern River credited the GRI refund, pro rata, to its 
eligible firm customers who received nondiscounted service during 1997.

    Kern River states that a copy of this filing has been served upon 
Kern River's affected customers and interested state regulatory 
commissions.
    Any person desiring to be heard or to protest this filing should 
file a motion to intervene or a protest with the Federal Energy 
Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20426, 
in accordance with Sections 385.214 and 385.211 of the Commission's 
Rules and Regulations. All such motions or protests must be filed on or 
before July 9, 1998. Protests will be considered by the Commission in 
determining the appropriate action to be taken, but will not serve to 
make protestants parties to the proceedings. Any person wishing to 
become a party must file a motion to intervene. Copies of this filing 
are on file with the Commission and are available for public inspection 
in the Public Reference Room.
