Great Lakes Gas Transmission Limited Partnership; Notice of
Proposed Changes in FERC Gas Tariff

    August 12, 1999
Take notice that on August 10, 1999, Great Lakes Gas Transmission
Limited Partnership (Great Lakes) tendered for filing as part of its
FERC Gas Tariff, Second Revised Volume No. 1, the tariff sheets listed
on Appendix A of the filing.
Great Lakes states that these tariff sheets are being filed to
comply with the Commission's Order No. 587-I issued on September 29,
    1998, in docket No. RM96-1-009. 84 FERC para. 61,328 (1998). In
addition, Great Lakes requested a one-month extension, until October 1,
1999 to implement Internet nominations and scheduling as required by
Order No. 587-I and the implementation schedule established by the Gas
    Industry Standards Board (GISB).
In Order No. 587-I, the Commission extended the deadline for the
complete transition to Internet communications to June 1, 2000, but
required pipelines to implement the transition according to the
schedule established by the Gas Industry Standards Board (GISB). Under
GISB's implementation schedule, each pipeline must offer the nomination
and scheduling process through its Internet web site by September 1,
    1999.
Great Lakes states that it is proposing the necessary revisions to
its tariff to provide such capabilities. However, due to severe
difficulties encountered in the last phases of Great Lakes' programming
process, Great Lakes has determined that it will require an additional
month for the implementation of Internet nominations and scheduling.
Any person desiring to be heard or to protest said filing should
file a motion to intervene or a protest with the Federal Energy
    Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20426,
in accordance with Sections 385.214 or 385.211 of the Commission's
Rules and Regulations. All such motions or protests must be filed in
accordance with Section 154.210 of the Commission's Regulations.
Protests will be considered by the Commission in determining the
appropriate action to be taken but will not serve to make protestants
parties to the proceedings. Any person wishing to become a party must
file a motion to intervene. Copies of this filing are on file with the
Commission and are available for public inspection in the Public
Reference Room. This filing may be viewed on the web at http://
