Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation; Notice of Filing

August 19, 1997.
    Take notice that on July 25, 1997, Rochester Gas and Electric 
Corporation (RG&E) tendered for filing an amendment to its July 1, 
1997, application for an order accepting tariff for power sales at 
market based rates. The amendment incorporates certain modifications to 
RG&E's filed Tariffs and provides additional information on the issue 
of load pockets.
    A copy of this filing has been served on the New York State Public 
Service Commission.
    Any person desiring to be heard or to protest said filing should 
file a motion to intervene or protest with the Federal Energy 
Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, NE., Washington, DC 20426, in 
accordance with Rules 211 and 214

of the Commission's Rules of Practice and Procedure (18 CFR 285.211 and 
18 CFR 385.214). All such motions or protests should be filed on or 
before August 29, 1997. Protests will be considered by the Commission 
in determining the appropriate action to be taken, but will not serve 
to make the protestants parties to this proceeding. Any person wishing 
to become a party must file a motion to intervene. Copies of this 
filing are on file with the Commission and available for public 
inspection.
