CSX Transportation, Inc.--Abandonment Exemption and
Discontinuance of Trackage Rights Exemption--in Rockbridge County, VA
The Commission, under 49 U.S.C. 10505, exempts from the prior
approval requirements of 49 U.S.C. 10903, et seq., the abandonment by
CSX Transportation, Inc. (CSXT) of a portion of its railroad from
milepost CPJ-9.34 at Loch Laird to milepost CPJ-12.0 at Buena Vista,
and to discontinue trackage rights over the Norfolk and Western Railway
(N&W) between Glasgow and Loch Laird, in Rockbridge County, VA. The
exemption is granted subject to standard labor protective conditions.

This exemption is effective on September 25, 1994. Formal
expressions of intent to file an offer of financial assistance under 49
CFR 1152.27(c)(2) must be filed by September 2, 1994, and petitions to
stay must be filed by September 12, 1994. Requests for a public use
condition under 49 CFR 1152.28(a)(2) must be filed by September 15,
1994. Petitions to reopen must be filed by September 20, 1994. For
