Meeting of the Task Force on Defense Reform
ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: Notice is hereby given of a meeting of the Task Force on
Defense Reform (the Task Force). Due to a revision in the schedule, the
previously announced closed meeting on this date is now open to the
public. One purpose of the meeting is to meet with the labor unions
representing federal employees in DoD. In addition, time will be set
aside for anyone who wishes to address the Task Force with ideas about
streamlining, restructuring, and reengineering OSD and other components
or elements of the Department of Defense.
The Task Force on Defense Reform was established to make
recommendations to the Secretary of Defense and Deputy Secretary of
Defense on alternatives for organizational reforms, reductions in
management overhead, and streamlined business practices in the
Department of Defense, with emphasis on the Office of the Secretary of
Defense, the Defense Agencies and the DoD Field Activities, and the
Military Departments.
DATES: Tuesday, September 23, 1997, at 1 p.m.
