ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
40 CFR Parts 52 and 81
[IN83-1b; FRL-5882-7]
Designation of Areas for Air Quality Planning Purposes; Indiana
AGENCY: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
ACTION: Proposed rule.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
SUMMARY: The EPA is proposing to approve a redesignation request
submitted by the State of Indiana on April 8, 1993, and supplemented on
June 17, 1997. In this submittal, Indiana submitted a maintenance plan
and requested that a portion of Vermillion County be redesignated to
attainment of the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for
particulate matter with an aerometric diameter less than 10 micrometers
(PM-10). In the Final Rules section of this Federal Register, EPA is
approving the State's SIP revision as a direct final rule without prior
proposal because the agency views this as a noncontroversial SIP
revision and anticipates no adverse comments. A detailed rationale for
the approval is set forth in the direct final rule. If no written
adverse comments are received in response to this proposed rule, no
further activity is contemplated in relation to this rule. If EPA
receives written adverse comments, the direct final rule will be
withdrawn and all public comments received will be addressed in a
subsequent final rule based on this proposed rule. EPA will not
institute a second comment period on this action. Any parties
interested in commenting on this action should do so at this time.
DATES: Comments must be received in writing by September 25, 1997.
ADDRESSES: Copies of the revision request are available for inspection
at the following address: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region
