JUDICIAL CONFERENCE OF THE UNITED STATES
Meeting of the Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure
AGENCY: Judicial Conference of the United States, Committee on Rules of
Practice and Procedure.
ACTION: Notice of Request for Comment on the Preliminary Draft of
Proposed Amendments to the Federal Rules of Appellate, Civil, and
Criminal Procedure, and the Official Bankruptcy Forms.

SUMMARY: The Advisory Committees on Rules of Appellate, Bankruptcy,
Civil, and Criminal Procedure have proposed amendments to the following
rules and forms:
Appellate Rules and Forms--5,5.1, and Form 4
Bankruptcy Forms--1, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 14, 17, 18, and new Forms 20A and
20B
Civil Rules--23
Criminal Rules--5.1, 26.2, 31, 33,35, and 43
Public hearings will be held on the amendments to:
Appellate Rules in Denver, Colorado on November 15, 1996;
Civil Rules in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 22, 1996,
Dallas, Texas on December 16, 1996, and San Francisco, California on
January 17, 1997; and
Criminal Rules in Oakland, California on December 13 1997.
The Judicial Conference Committee on Rules of Practice and
Procedure submits these rules for public comment. All comments and
suggestions with respect to them must be placed in the hands of the
Secretary as soon as convenient and, in any event, no later than
February 15, 1997.
Anyone interested in testifying should write to Mr. Peter G.

20544, at least 30 days before the hearing.
