Exceptions to Passive Income Characterization for Certain Foreign
Banks and Securities Dealers; Hearing
AGENCY: Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Treasury.
ACTION: Change of date for public hearing on proposed regulations.

SUMMARY: This document changes the date of the public hearing on
proposed regulations concerning the application of the exceptions to
passive income contained in section 1296(b) for foreign banks,
securities dealers and brokers.

DATES: The public hearing is changed to Monday, September 11, 1995,
beginning at 10:00 a.m.
ADDRESSES: The public hearing will be held in the Internal Revenue
Service Auditorium, Seventh floor, 7400 Corridor, Internal Revenue
Building, 1111 Constitution Avenue NW., Washington, DC. Submit requests
to speak and outlines of oral comments to the CC:DOM:CORP:T:R [IL-65-

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: A notice of proposed rulemaking and notice
of public hearing appearing in the Federal Register on Friday, April
28, 1995 (60 FR 20922), announced that the Service would hold a public
hearing on proposed regulations concerning the application of the
exceptions to passive income contained in section 1296(b) for foreign
banks, securities dealers and brokers on Thursday, August 31, 1995,
beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the IRS Auditorium.
The date of the public hearing has changed. The hearing is
scheduled for Monday, September 11, 1995, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The
requests to speak and outlines of oral comments must be received by
Thursday, August 10, 1995. Because of controlled access restrictions,
attenders are not admitted beyond the lobby of the Internal Revenue
Building until 9:45 a.m.
The Service will prepare an agenda showing the scheduling of the
speakers after the outlines are received from the persons testifying
and make copies available free of charge at the hearing.
