    Southern Natural Gas Company; Petition for Waiver
    
    July 29, 1999.
        Take notice that on July 26, 1999, Southern Natural Gas Company 
    (Southern) tendered for filing a petition for an interim waiver of 
    Section 14.1(c)(1) of the General Terms and Conditions of its Tariff in 
    order to waive cashout premiums incurred during June 1999. 
    Additionally, Southern requests that the Commission permit Southern to 
    continue to waive cashout premiums, to the extent necessary, through 
    the earlier of (1) December 31, 1999 or (2) the last day of the month 
    in which Southern provides notice that the software problems causing 
    the cashout issues are no longer an issue.
        Southern states that copies of the filing have been mailed to all 
    of the shippers and interested state commissions.
        Any person desiring to be heard or to protest said filing should 
    file a motion to intervene or a protest with the Federal Energy 
    Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20426, 
    in accordance with Sections 385.214 or 385.211 of the Commission's 
    Rules and Regulations. All such motions or protests must be filed on or 
    before August 5, 1999. Protests will be considered by the Commission in 
    determining the appropriate action to be taken, but will not serve to 
    make protestants parties to the proceedings. Any person wishing to 
    become a party must file a motion to intervene. Copies of this filing 
    are on file with the Commission and are available for public inspection 
    in the Public Reference Room. This filing may be viewed on the web at
