    Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America; Notice of Filing of 
    Reconciliation Report
    
    September 3, 1998.
        Take notice that on August 31, 1998, Natural Gas Pipeline Company 
    of America (Natural) tendered for filing a request for privileged 
    treatment, pursuant to 18 CFR Sections 385.112((b)(1), for the document 
    submitted with the Commission in the above docketed proceeding.
        Natural states that the document is the Reconciliation Report 
    pertaining to Natural's gas supply realignment (GSR) cost recovery 
    program for the period from December 1, 1993 through November 30, 1997, 
    which has been prepared and is being submitted pursuant to Section 
    38.10 of the General Terms and Conditions of Natural's FERC Gas Tariff, 
    Sixth Volume No. 1 (GT&C). Natural claims that the information provided 
    is confidential, proprietary and commercially sensitive and therefore 
    exempt from the mandatory public disclosure requirements of the Freedom 
    of Information Act, 5 U.S.C. Section 552.
        Natural states that public disclosure of this data could be used to 
    the disadvantage of Natural and of Shippers on its system.
        Any person desiring to be heard or to protest said filing should 
    file a motion to intervene or a protest with the Federal Energy 
    Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, NE, Washington, DC 20426, in 
    accordance with Sections 385.214 or 385.211 of the Commission's Rules 
    and Regulations. All such motions or protests must be filed on or 
    before September 10, 1998. Protests will be considered by the 
    Commission in determining the appropriate action to be taken, but will 
    not serve to make protestants parties to the proceedings. Any person 
    wishing to become a party must file a motion to intervene. Copies of 
    this filing are on file with the Commission and are available for 
    public inspection in the Public Reference Room.
