NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION
[Docket Nos. 50-317 and 50-318]
Baltimore Gas and Electric Company; Notice of Withdrawal of
Application for Amendment to Facility Operating License
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has granted
the request of Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (the licensee) to
withdraw its July 26, 1996, application for proposed amendment to
Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-53 and DPR-69 for the Calvert
Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 , located in Lusby,
Maryland.
The proposed amendment would have revised the operating licenses to
allow the repair of defected steam generator tubes by electrosleeving.
The Commission had previously issued a Notice of Consideration of
Issuance of Amendment published in the Federal Register on August 14,
1996 (61 FR 42276). However, by letter dated August 20, 1998, the
licensee withdrew the proposed change.
For further details with respect to this action, see the
application for amendment dated July 26, 1996, and the licensee's
letter dated August 20, 1998, which withdrew the application for
license amendment. The above documents are available for public
inspection at the Commission's Public Document Room, the Gelman
Building, 2120 L Street, NW., Washington, DC, and at the local public
document room located at the Calvert County Library, Prince Frederick,
Maryland 20678.
Dated at Rockville, Maryland, this 3rd day of September 1998.
For the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Alexander W. Dromerick,
Senior Project Manager, Project Directorate I-1, Division of Reactor
Projects--I/II, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.
