    SUMMARY:

    The Federal Emergency Management Agency, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, invites the general public and other Federal agencies to take this opportunity to comment on a revision of a currently approved collection. In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, this notice seeks comments concerning grant application information necessary to assess the needs and benefits of applicants for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

    DATES:

    Comments must be submitted on or before November 13, 2012.

    SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:

    Information sought under this submission will comprise of applications for Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) and Fire Prevention and Safety (FPS) grants. The authorizing legislation allows FEMA to fund fire department activities. The authority for AFG and FPS is derived from the Federal Fire Protection and Control Act of 1974 (15 U.S.C. 2229 et seq.), as amended. The information collected through the program's application is the minimum necessary to evaluate grant applications and is necessary for FEMA to comply with mandates delineated in AFG laws.

    Abstract: The FEMA forms for this collection are used to objectively evaluate each of the anticipated applicants to determine which applicants' submission in each of the AFG activities are close to the established program priorities. FEMA also uses the information to determine eligibility and whether the proposed use of funds meets the requirements and intent of AFG legislation.

    Affected Public: State, Local or Tribal Government, and Not-for-profit institutions.

    Estimated Total Annual Burden Hours: 212,975.

    Estimated Cost: There are no recordkeeping, capital, start-up or maintenance costs associated with this information collection.
