SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: EPA issued a notice, published in the
Federal Register of August 24, 1994 (59 FR 43577), which announced that
Safe and Sure Products Company, P.O. Box 5547, Sarasota, FL 34277, had
submitted an application to register the pesticide product De-Flea
Shampoo Concentrate an insecticide (EPA File Symbol 45729-E),
containing the active ingredients docusate sodium sulfosuccinate
(hereafter referred to as dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate) and
undecylenic acid at 12 and 2 percent respectively, active ingredients
not included in any currently registered product.
The application was approved on August 8, 1995, as De-Flea Shampoo
Concentrate for use to control fleas, ticks, and lice on dogs, cats and
other nursing animals (EPA Registration Number 45729-2).
The Agency has considered all required data on risks associated
with the proposed use of dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate and undecylenic
acid, and information on social, economic, and environmental benefits
to be derived from use. Specifically, the Agency has considered the
nature of the chemical and its pattern of use, application methods and
rates, and level and extent of potential exposure. Based on these
reviews, the Agency was able to make basic health safety determinations
which show that use of dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate and undecylenic
acid when used in accordance with widespread and commonly recognized
practice, will not generally cause unreasonable adverse effects to the
environment.
In accordance with section 3(c)(2) of FIFRA, a copy of the approved
label and the list of data references used to support registration are
available for public inspection in the office of the Product Manager.
