SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Based on a determination, pursuant to 10 CFR
Part 600,7(b)(2), which authorizes a financial assistance award to be
made noncompetitively if the activity to be funded is necessary to the

another federal agency, and for which competition would have a
significant adverse effect on continuity or completion of the activity,
AL gives notice of its intent to award a grant with Princeton
University under the project entitled ``Hydrogen Energy Systems
Studies.'' The public purpose to be served by this award is to perform
technical and economic assessments of hydrogen energy systems. Research
will assess using hydrogen derived from natural gas in a transistion
toward widespread use of renewable hydrogen as an energy carrier. This
grant is a continuation of work performed under a contract between
Princeton and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The project
period will be for one year. The government's funding of this grant is
subject to the availability of funds.
