                Presidential Determination No. 96-50 of September 4, 
                1996

                
POW/MIA Military Drawdown for Cambodia

                Memorandum for the Secretary of State [and] the 
                Secretary of Defense

                Pursuant to the authority vested in me by section 535 
                of the 1996 Foreign Operations Assistance Act (Public 
                Law 104-107) (the ``Act''), I hereby determine that it 
                is necessary to draw down defense articles from the 
                stocks of the Department of Defense for Cambodia for 
                the purposes set forth in the Act of supporting efforts 
                to locate and repatriate members of the United States 
                Armed Forces and civilians employed directly or 
                indirectly by the United States Government who remain 
                unaccounted for from the Vietnam War.

                Therefore, I hereby authorize and direct the drawdown 
                of up to $151,000 of such defense articles from the 
                stocks of the Department of Defense for Cambodia, for 
                the purposes and under the authorities of section 535 
                of the Act.

                The Secretary of State is authorized and directed to 
                report this determination to the Congress and to 
                publish it in the Federal Register.
