Agency Information Collection Activities: Submission for OMB
Review; Comment Request
Periodically, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration (SAMHSA) will publish a list of information collection
requests under OMB review, in compliance with the Paperwork Reduction
Act (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35). To request a copy of these documents, call
the SAMHSA Reports Clearance Officer on (301) 443-7978.
Drug Abuse Warning Network--(OMB number 0930-0078, extension)---The
Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) collects data on drug-related medical
emergencies and deaths as reported from about 660 hospitals and medical
examiners nationwide. Used by Federal, State, and local agencies, this
on-going data system supports efforts to identify drug abuse trends,
assess health hazards associated with substance abuse, and schedule
substances under the Controlled Substances Act. The annual burden
estimate is 15,284 hours as shown below:
