Meeting of the Historical Records Declassification Advisory Panel
AGENCY: Department of Defense, Historical Advisory Committee.
ACTION: Notice of closed meeting.

SUMMARY: The Historical Records Declassification Advisory Panel will
meet in closed session on September 16-17, 1999. The Panel was
originally chartered by the Secretary of Defense on November 29, 1995
to make recommendations to the Department of Defense on topical areas
of interest that, from a historical perspective, would be of the
greatest benefit if declassified. This is the second session held in
1999.
The Panel will meet in closed session on September 16-17, 1999 to
receive briefings and participate in discussions of national security
matters, and is projected to include classified and sensitive,
unclassified information. The afternoon of September 16, 1999, the
Panel will be touring the Army Declassification Facility, which is a
secure facility. The Panel also plans to meet with the Deputy Secretary
of Defense for part of the afternoon of September 17, 1999.
In accordances with section 10(d) of the Federal Advisory Committee
Act, Public Law 92-463, as amended [5 U.S.C., Appendix II], it is
anticipated that matters affecting national security, as covered by 5
U.S.C. 522b(c)(1)(1988), will be presented throughout the meeting, and
that, accordingly, the meeting will be closed to the public.

17, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
