Proposed Project: Checklist Validation of Dietary Questionnaire--
New--This experiment will compare the performance of two self-
administered food frequency questionnaires which use different
approaches to collect the information. The purpose of the study is to
determine which food frequency approach more nearly replicates the
information collected on the criterion Daily Checklist Instrument,
which is a list of about 30 key food items selected especially for this
comparative assessment. The Checklist will be completed daily for 30
days by each study participant. Following the 30-day period, one group
will complete the NCI Health Habits and History Questionnaires (HHHQ),
and the other group will complete the NCI Diet History Questionnaire
(DHQ). Respondents to each data collection instrument will estimate how
often they eat a series of food items in the last month. Complete
questionnaires will be obtained on 250 subjects in each of the two
study groups. Study participants will be compensated. The results of
the study will be used to refine the NCI Diet History Questionnaire.
Participants will be adult volunteers from the Washington, DC
metropolitan area. Burden estimates are as follows:
