    SUMMARY: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing the 
    withdrawal, without prejudice to future filing, of a food additive 
    petition (FAP 8B4095) proposing that the food additive regulations be 
    amended to provide for the safe use of the copolymer of dimethylamine, 
    epichlorohydrin and diethylenetriamine as a retention and drainage aid 
    in the manufacture of paper and paperboard.

    SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: In a notice published in the Federal 
    Register of June 14, 1990 (55 FR 24158), FDA announced that a food 
    additive petition (FAP 8B4095) had been filed by Allied Colloids Ltd., 
    P.O. Box 38, Low Moor, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, BD-12-OJZ. 
    The petition proposed to amend the food additive regulations to provide 
    for the safe use of the copolymer of dimethylamine, epichlorohydrin and 
    diethylenetriamine as a retention and drainage aid in the manufacture 
    of paper and paperboard.
        Allied Colloids Ltd. has now withdrawn the petition without 
    prejudice to a future filing (21 CFR 171.7).
