Advisory Committee on International Communications and 
Information Policy Notice of Committee Renewal

    The Department of State has renewed the Charter of the Advisory 
Committee on International Communications and Information Policy for 
another two years, effective August 17, 1998. This Committee will 
continue to provide a formal channel for regular consultation and 
coordination on major economic, social, and legal issues and problems 
in international communications and information policy, especially as 
these issues and problems involve users of information and 
communication services, providers of such services, technology research 
and development, foreign industrial and regulatory policy, the 
activities of international organizations with regard to communications 
and information, and developing country interests.
    The Committee consists of representatives of the communications and 
information technology industries who are selected by the U.S. 
Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy to 
serve generally for a two-year term. The Committee will continue to 
follow the procedures prescribed by the Federal Advisory Committee Act 
(FACA). Meetings will continue to be open to the public unless a 
determination is made in accordance with section 10(d) of the FACA, 5 
U.S.C. Secs. 552B(c)(1) and (4), that a meeting or a portion of the 
meeting should be closed to the public. Notice of each meeting will 
continue to be provided for publication in the Federal Register as far 
in advance as possible prior to the meeting.
