I support APHIS's decision to expand regulation to all cultivars of Kalmia, Rhododendron, and other plant genera common in the eastern part of the United States. I encourage APHIS to continue to focus on preventing P. ramorum from spreading outside of currently contaminated areas by restricting the export of common ornamentals, and to attempt to educate the public about the dangers of individuals grown in nurseries found in contaminated areas. I also encourage APHIS to more vigorously halt and reverse the spread of P. ramorum on the West Coast through more strenuous scientific research and application.
