9 CFR 95.30: Restrictions on entry of products and byproducts of poultry, game birds, or other birds from regions where highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) exists currently provides import guidance for products, or byproducts, including feathers, birds' nests, and bird trophies, of poultry, game birds, or other birds may be imported from a region identified in accordance with §94.6(a)(2) of this subchapter as a region where HPAI exists. It is unclear if this regulatory change applies to eggs and egg products.
According to OIE (World Health Organization) HPAI is a virus can be found inside and on the surface of eggs laid by infected birds. Therefore, the Interim Rule changes associated with this part should clearly provide import requirements for eggs and egg products from HPAI regions.
