Our company imports universal joints and drive shafts from our German
counterpart, through Canada (Montreal) to Detroit and Chicago.
We are already subject to and comply with regulations regaring phytosanitary
measures for wood packing, intended to stop pests from entering either the US or
Canada. It seems unfair for our company to pay extra because APHIS has neglected
their duty in the past.
We have regularly paid to have our shipments "Inspected", such inspection
consisting mainly of payment of the required fees, including additional
transportation costs to the inspection location.
It seems a case of locking the barn door when the horse is well down the road.
