I'm very concerned with the restrictions as they effect Koi (Carp) imports from Japan. I am under the understanding that there are no reported SVC cases in Japan. Japan is also closed to all Koi/Carp imports. So I don't see Koi from Japan intended for private residental koi ponds as a significant threat to food fish in the US. Also it appears the inspections are just looking over the fish without any sort of testing, so could double the cost of Koi in some cases without doing anyting significant to protect domestic food fish.
