Some nurseries have been canker free through out the recent history of canker in Florida i.e. since the 1980's discovery. Our nursery has been inspected numerious times and has been found to be canker free. In the recent past, most of 2005 and all of 2006, we have been inspected every 45 days. It seems both unreasonable and unfair to penalize those nurseries that are canker free just because all citrus nurseries in Florida can't be certified canker free. Our position is that nurseries who are canker free and ship to non citrus producing states pose no threat to the citrus producing states. There fore we would request that nurseries taht can be certified canker free for a specified reasonalbe period of time (45-60 days) be allowed to ship to non citrus producing states.
