7 CFR part 319 (Docket No. APHIS-2006-0129) Wood Packaging Material; Treatment Modification Proposed action: updates regulation to bring methyl bromide treatment schedule into alignment with current international phytosanitary standards. Apparently this change will improve the treatment's efficacy. That would be a positive except that methyl bromide treatments generally do not control deep wood insects which do represent serious threats to Oregon's agriculture, forests, environment and quality of life. More effective treatments should be required. Kathleen Johnson, Insect Pest Prevention & Management Program Supervisor
