Dear Sir or Madam,
In a Chineese foodstore on McDonald Ave in Brooklyn NY, I was
horrified to see red-eared terrapins (sliders) (Trachemys scripta elegans) stacked,
literally, upon each other in dry boxes. Up to 4 live large (adults over 4 inches)
animals on top of each other, unable to move. 20 animals in all. I explained to the
manager that the water tank nearby was probably a better place for them, but he
just ignored my comments. I was tempted to buy all the animals, but realized that
I have no placement for them, except in my own pond where I have 56 turtles living
in a clean pond with pumped, circulating water. My problem is; I live in
Copenhagen Denmark. My question is; How can I legally transport these animals
to Denmark? Who do I talk to about saving these precious animals? I am very
distressed about this barbaric human behaviour and realise that the store will just
buy more after I buy these, but at least I can save a few.
I Thank you for reading this and I await your respose,
Robert P Bouranel
