public comment on federal register of 1/5/06 vol 72 #3 pg 471 usda aphis
9 cfr part 94 docket 2006-0186 rin 0579-ac24 import of pork from areas where
diseases exist
i feel this proposal means unsafe food for americans and do not favor this proposal
at all. i do not think we can trust these pieces of paper from god knows where
based on certification from who knows what. i am in favor of locally grown food. i
also know that pigs are grown under horrible conditions in this country. mother
pigs cant even turn around for their entire lives. they are confined in tiny stalls that
are horrible and inhumane. the local agribusiness is allowed to get away with far
far too much animal abuse with pigs in this country. we need to stop this animal
abuse now.aphis is under the control of profiteers in this business and considers
pigs widgets in a factory, rather than the intelligent animals that they are. it is time
for new rules on this subject rather than the same old crap going on with profiteers
getting rich on animal abuse.
i also oppose this on the basis that there is too much shipping of food into this
country. we should be growing food in this country. the endless shipping is
polluting our air and water. the shipping lanes are killing whales. the air pollution
from air shipping is polluting our air. the shpping lanes are polluting our waters. it
is time to grow locally. i do not think this continued importing is doing anything but
hurting our environment. this is my opinion.
