Lake Placid Groves, LLC is a citrus grower and marketer of fresh citrus to retail grocery stores in the United States and Canada. As a grower, we have adopted a stringent business action plan consisting of procedures for self-surveying, citrus canker management and decontamination. We are highly economically incentivized to ensure that fruit sent for packing is free of citrus canker symptoms as the proposed rule APHIS-2007-0022 indicates. We support proposed rule APHIS-2007-0022 in its entirety and encourage its implementation by October 1, 2007, or sooner if possible.The certainty of a timely- adopted,diligently-researched rule will certainly help the citrus industry recover from the devastating events of the past several years. We appreciate well- conceived, throughly science-based rule making (such as APHIS-2007-0022) as an important cornerstone in our growing and marketing plans for the future.
