With regard to further restricting movement of nursery stock outside of Florida to non citrus producing states, the USDA has produced no science and no valid reasoning for such restrictions. The calamondins found with canker were produced prior to Florida adoption of a new nursery stock production program and further were produced in an area heavily infected with canker. Florida nursery stock produced today under the Florida citrus nursery stock program adopted in September of 2006 will be free of disease and pose no risk by being shipped to a NON CITRUS producing state. We strongly oppose the USDA restrictions on shipment of Florida citus plant material.
