I fully agree with Dr. Power's comments. All citizens of the USA will suffer the consequences if a mistake is made. It is not good policy to let an agency perform tests on a possible foreign animal disease if that laboratory has not been inspected by a recognized quality control agency for proper quality control measures. I also think testing on such important diseases should be done through neutral parties and not by an enity that has a personal stake in the test result. I feel we lose creditability with our trading partners if we do otherwise.
