To Whom It May Concern:
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Division of Plant Industry (FDACS’ DPI) reviewed the proposed Federal Register Docket No. APHIS-2007-0117 concerning the importation of wooden handicrafts from China.
FDACS’ DPI supports the proposed change of recommended heat treatment for handicrafts from China be modified from 71°C at 75 minutes to 60°C for 60 minutes. This change is based on good science that demonstrates that raising the center of the regulated articles to a temperature of 60°C for a time period of 60 minutes will neutralize all pests of concern as mentioned in the pest risk assessment.
Thank you for the opportunity to supply input on this proposed rule.
Sincerely,
CHARLES H. BRONSON
